Nexdel Editorial Policy
Effective Date: January 1, 2026
Last Updated: March 13, 2026
Our Mission
Nexdel exists to help readers understand Nigerian society through clear interpretation of culture, power, people, and public life.
We aim to inform without inflaming, explain without preaching, and engage without sensationalism.
Our editorial approach is guided by five principles:
Accuracy • Context • Clarity • Responsibility • Respect for the reader
Editorial Independence
Nexdel maintains strict editorial independence.
Editorial decisions are made without influence from advertisers, sponsors, political actors, or outside pressure. Advertising relationships do not affect story selection, framing, or conclusions. Sponsored content is always clearly labeled and kept separate from editorial work.
Accuracy & Verification
We are committed to factual reporting.
Editors and contributors are expected to:
- Verify information before publication
- Use credible sources whenever possible
- Cross-check facts, names, and figures
- Avoid speculation presented as fact
When covering developing stories, we prioritize confirmed information over speed.
Sources
We prefer on-the-record sources who can be identified by name and role.
Anonymous sources may be used only when:
- The information is in the public interest
- The source faces genuine risk if identified
- The information can be independently verified
The final decision to grant anonymity rests with the editor.
Opinion & Analysis
Nexdel publishes news analysis, commentary, and opinion.
All opinion content must:
- Be clearly labeled
- Be grounded in facts
- Avoid personal attacks or inflammatory language
We welcome diverse viewpoints, but we do not publish misinformation, hate speech, or incitement.
Culture & Entertainment Coverage
Nexdel covers culture and entertainment with intelligence and restraint.
We avoid publishing unverified allegations, rumor-based gossip, or content intended to humiliate individuals. Public figures may be scrutinized, but coverage must remain fair and responsible.
Politics & Public Affairs
Our political coverage focuses on policy, governance, institutions, and civic impact.
Nexdel does not:
- Endorse political candidates or parties
- Publish propaganda
- Engage in partisan campaigning
Our responsibility is to readers, not to political power.
Tone & Style
Nexdel writing should reflect our brand voice:
Calm. Clear. Curious. Intelligent.
We avoid sensational headlines, clickbait language, insults, or excessive slang. Our goal is thoughtful, accessible journalism.
Corrections
Accuracy matters. When we make a mistake, we correct it promptly and transparently.
Correction requests can be sent to:

Conflicts of Interest
Editors, writers, and contributors must disclose any personal or professional conflicts related to their reporting. Undisclosed conflicts are not permitted to influence editorial decisions.
Advertising & Sponsorship
Nexdel accepts advertising and sponsorship under clear guidelines:
- Sponsored content is clearly labeled
- Advertisers do not control editorial conclusions
- We may decline advertising that conflicts with our editorial values
Editorial integrity is non-negotiable.
Reader Engagement
We encourage thoughtful discussion from our readers.
We do not tolerate:
- Hate speech
- Harassment
- Threats
- Disinformation
We reserve the right to moderate or remove harmful comments.
